17 Jun JACK GOODCHILD SIGNS TWO – WAY DEAL WITH LONDON RAIDERS AND SWINDON WILDCATS
Exciting forward Jack Goodchild will continue to train with Okanagan Hockey Academy whilst playing for both Swindon Wildcats teams in the National Ice Hockey League and National Ice Hockey League 2 South as well as for the London Raiders in the National IceHockey League South 1 in the upcoming 2020/2021 season.
Jack started his junior career with Slough and Bracknell before joining OHA for the 2017/2018 season, since then he has established himself as a technically gifted and fast-thinking player who has a skill set which will allow him to be successful in his career game. OHA UK will still help to develop Jack on the ice, in the gym and support him with his education, however, due to his date of birth, he will not be eligible to play in the junior south U18 league.
Talking about his time Jack said “I would like to thank everyone at Okanagan UK for all they have done through my 3 years of being at the academy. To Ryan, who helped me mature and continue to improve my game. With all the opportunities that Okanagan UK has given me, as well as others, it has made the Okanagan UK name grow. It’s a great place to continue to learn and improve.”Throughout the last two seasons, Jack has been involved with the Swindon Wildcats playing in the NIHL2 side under the guidance of coach Lee Richardson as well as still representing OHA.
Okanagan UK Head Coach Ryan Aldridge believes that Jack will continue to improve by being involved with the Raiders and the Wildcats and will soon establish himself in the men’s game he said “This is set to be a big year for Jack with all the ice and opportunities offered to him. He is getting the chance to play for two senior teams and pushing for a spot in the wildcat’s first team. Alongside this, he still gets all the morning ice to improve his skill development where some of the senior teams don’t have the time or ice available to do that. He is a great young man who plays the game the right way and I hope to see him playing in a regular spot with the Wildcats first team by the end of the year.
The Swindon Wildcats is an organisation that has played a big part in establishing Okanagan graduates within the English game once graduating, in recent years Joe Llewellyn, JordanKelsall, Luc Johnson, Ben Nethersell and Toms Rutkis have all represented theWildcatsEveryone at OHA UK would like to wish Jack all the best starting his senior ice hockey career.
